Asset Operations

The pipeline systems which BPA are responsible for managing reinforce our credentials for providing operational services.

UKOP System:
Owned by a consortium of UK oil companies, UKOP is some 650 km long, comprised of three integrated pipeline systems. It supplies multi-product fuels from refineries on the Rivers Thames and Mersey to inland distribution terminals, providing over 50% of Heathrow and Gatwick airports fuel needs, and a large percentage of all ground fuels consumed in the UK . For 30 years BPA has been responsible for management and development of the system, one of the most highly used, complex and fully automated multi-product installations of its kind - and a key UK strategic supply asset.

Bacton to North Walsham Gas condensate disposal system:
Day to day management, operation and maintenance of the Bacton - North Walsham pipeline system, a pump station and pipeline (8km, 6") carrying gas condensate to rail loading facilities. In addition BPA perform all project and third party engineering works relating to the system.

Point of Ayr to Connahs Quay Gas Pipeline:
High pressure gas transmission system supplying a power station. BPA is responsible for pipeline maintenance, inspection and land agency services in order to preserve the integrity, safety, reliability and cost effectiveness of the pipeline including provision of a full 24 hour emergency response facility. Contract also requires BPA to undertake non routine additional services.

Bacton to Great Yarmouth system:
High pressure natural gas pipeline from the Transco Gas terminal at Bacton to the Great Yarmouth power Station. BPA as 'Operator provides overall management of the 45km 12" natural gas pipeline from the Transco Gas terminal at Bacton to the Great Yarmouth power Station. Duties include pipeline operation, inspection and maintenance, land agency services, wayleave monitoring / helicopter patrol, 3rd party works supervision, and emergency response. System is monitored from the BPA Kingsbury Control Centre near Birmingham

BPA experience also extends to the management and operation of heated black oil systems, chemical lines, rail and road loading terminals, airfields, hydrant systems and jetties.
