UKOP Risk Reduction

Epping to Buncefield Pipelines

This was the second phase of a project initiated in 2012 to address ‘operational risk reduction’ issues on a 40km section of the 750km UKOP multiproduct pipeline between Epping booster pumps station and the Buncefield terminal facility. This work entailed the coordination of 3 distinct projects over a number of sites, all during a strict 5 day pipeline shutdown – only the second in the 40 year operating history of the pipeline.

The team (including BPA Operations staff and site Engineering project teams coordinating 6 specialist lead contractors, and 90 staff) delivered the upgraded pipeline back to Operations on time and within budget.
